Week One: Naturally Occurring Alphabet

This is the first week of the October 22 Project 52 Contest. The prize for the month of October is a $200 gift card to Cameragraphics in Auburn, AL.

So the goal of Project 52 is to get you to make interesting photographs that you wouldn’t normally make. For Week One I’m sending you out there to get the A, B, C’s if you will. Except the naturally occurring variety.

Above we have some examples of naturally occurring alphabet. Remember the goal here is that you find them, not that you make them. This is an exercise about seeing things differently.

Remember first things first, only members are eligible to win the October prize. So get yourself signed up for a membership. Then take your picture and you submit an entry by posting it to Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter. When you post tag the Opelika Art Factory and use the hashtags #Project52 and #WeekOneAlphabet.

Your entries will only score you points if you tag the Opelika Art Factory and you use the hashtags #Project52 and #WeekOneAlphabet, so don’t forget that step.

You can post as many times as you like to those channels but you will only get credit for one post in each channel. Each channel you post in gives you a point. If OAF likes the post you get a point. If your picture is selected as picture of the week you get 2 points. If you submit an entry every week of the month you get two points. And you get two points every week you submit an entry that was taken in the studio. Entries have to be submitted by 9am October 7th.

Your entries need to be taken this week. Submitting entries that were taken before this week will result in your membership being terminated.

Recapping the rules:

Only studio members can win. So go here to get your absolutely free membership.

  • This is one week in a competition that will run all of October, the prize will not be awarded until November. Entries for this week must be submitted by 10 AM october 7th

  • All prizes must be picked up in person at the studio. If you don’t live near here I don’t know that you will want to compete but you are welcome to.

  • Prizes are not transferable or saleable.

  • Your entries should be shot the week of the contest. Entering work shot prior to that week will disqualify you from future OAF contests and may result in termination of your membership.

  • This prize will only be awarded if there are at least 10 different nonemployees entered in the contest this month.

Thats it, see you out there.
